How Do You Light It?

What Are Reed Diffusers?

I had many questions about reed diffusers recently, so I thought I'd help explain! Answer: You don’t light them!

A reed diffuser consists of three main items: * A glass bottle or bowl * A set of wooden reeds or sticks * A liquid fragrance with the reed base The scented liquid comes in a glass bottle, and the reeds are placed inside. The room size and scent level preference will determine how many reed sticks you put in the bottle. My standard rule is to start with 2-3 and wait about 24-48 hours before adding more. How Do They Spread The Fragrance Throughout The Home? The reed sticks are made of lightweight wood which absorbs the oils as they sit in the liquid. The oil travels up the wooden stem, and the fragrance is naturally dispersed (diffused) into the air. A well-maintained 2 oz. reed diffuser made with quality products should last for approximately 3-6 months before needing to be refilled or replaced. If you notice that it does not effectively release a pleasant fragrance for more than a few days or weeks, you may need to invest in a higher-quality fragrance solution. How Should You Care For Your Reed Diffuser? This home fragrance option requires some simple maintenance to remain functional. First, ensure you gently swirl the fragrance solution every week; it helps mix up the solution. Next, flip the reeds every three to four days. It helps keep the wood moist so that it continues to release the scented oil into the air. You may add more sticks to increase the fragrance. Please wash your hands after flipping the reeds. Minnieology offers refills to use existing bottles, or you can repurpose any bottle you have in your home. Here I've repurposed In Good Taste Wines mini wine bottle. Our scents are non-toxic, something to consider as you are breathing them in your home. It's important to keep the reed diffuser away from children and pets. It should not be consumed or touched.
